Q3) (a)

Define the following terms in connection with AC waveforms : - (1) Q-Factor (2) Power Factor (3) Form factor.

Q-Factor
“The quality factor or Q factor is a dimensionless parameter that describes how underdamped an oscillator or resonator is. It is defined as the ratio of the peak energy stored in the resonator in a cycle of oscillation to the energy lost per radian of the cycle.

Q- factor = Current magnification = 1R L C

Power Factor
“The It is defined as the cosine of angle between voltage and current. Power Factor = p.f. = cos φ, where, φ is the angle between voltage and current.

Form Factor
It is defined as the ratio of rms value to average value of an alternating quantity. It is denoted by Kf. Form factor Kf = 1.11 for sine wave
