It is required to produce ice from $36 ° C$ water. The capacity of the ice plan is $6 ton$ and specific heat of the water is $4.18 \frac{kJ}{Kg K}$ . Determine the amount of ice produced in 3 hours.

Given Data:

t = 36 ° C

Q = 6 TR = 6 \times 3.5 = 21 kW

C_{pw} = 4.187 \frac{kJ}{kg K}

Take LH of ice = 355 \frac{kJ}{kg}

Find:

m_{ice} = ?

Solution:

Q = m [C_{pw} (t - t_{0}) + 335]

21 = m [4.187 (309 - 273) + 335]

m = 0.0432 \frac{kg}{s} = 155.52 \frac{kg}{hr}

The amount of ice produced in 3 hours,

m = 155.52 \times 3 = 466.56 kg
